Monday, 10/15/12 FIELD TRIP FORMS & MONEY DUE TODAY!!!

  • MUG Shot (Remember these?) :)
  • Distribute 30-word Unit 2 Study Guide to help students study for Friday's Unit 2 Test
  • Discuss Chapters 15-23 in Crash
  • Complete handout on themes & symbols from the first half of the book, in preparation for tomorrow's quiz.
HW:
  • Prepare for quiz tomorrow over Figurative Language & the first half of the book (Chapters 1-23)
  • Word Wisdom pages 46-47 due Wednesday; pages 48-49 due Thursday.
  • Prepare for Unit 2 Posttest over all 30 words this Friday

Tuesday, 10/16/12

  • demonstrate mastery of figurative language and Chpts 1-23 (plot, characters, conflict, setting; comprehension & analysis)
Procedure:
  • Copy HW in agenda
  • What is/are today’s objective(s)?
  • Take quiz over Figurative Language and the first 1/2 of Crash
  • Complete/continue to work on Word Wisdom workbook pages, Unit 2 study handout, or reading Crash
  • Read up to Chapter 29 in Crash by tomorrow, if not finished in class today.
HW:
  • Finish reading up to chapter 29
  • Word Wisdom pages 46-47 due Wednesday; pages 48-49 due Thursday.
  • Prepare for Unit 2 Posttest (over all 30 words) on Friday

  • Discuss Chapters 23-29
  • Add to Reflection/Prediction Log with new set of questions/prompts to choose from.
  • Continue reading in class, up to Chapter 35

  • Check my current understanding of U2 words (by checking my answers to WW HW) to identify what/how I need to study for tomorrow's test.
  • Demonstrate that I've completed my reading assignment by responding to a question using the R.O.Q. form (in writing)
  • (Through discussion with peers) evaluate the author's effectiveness in creating and portraying a character that is believable (7th grade male, Crash) and defend my answer using details from the text.
Procedure:
  • Copy HW in agenda
  • What is/are today’s objective(s)?
  • Copy ROQ question on the board onto 1/2 sheet of paper and write response.
    • ROQ Topic: Why was Crash's Christmas (like) "pizza without the pepperoni" (page 113)? What does that even mean?
  • Check HW: Word Wisdom HW completion U2P4 pages 48-49
      • correct answers from pages 45-49 together in class
  • Continue reading from Chapter 35, if time.
